ENVIRONMENT


ENERGY EFFICIENCY

In 2021, we surpassed our goal of achieving over 50% of our energy consumption from renewable sources and launched a new challenge: reaching a target of 70% of direct renewable energy consumption by 2030.


NIS = National Interconnected System.
Direct Renewable Energy = energy from solar generation and own small power plant and from the free market.
95% of the energy consumed by BRK in 2022 came from renewable sources, considering the NIS.

NET ZERO STRATEGY

The company has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by 2040 and has set interim control targets for 2025 and 2030.

WATER SECURITY AND LOSS REDUCTION

The water security and loss reduction program enabled us to prevent the wastage of 25 billion liters of water between 2018 and 2022. In 2022, the Company reduced losses from 41%, as recorded in 2018, to 35%, and to ensure the effectiveness of this journey, we have committed to achieving a 25% loss rate by 2030.

ADVANCES IN GOVERNANCE



BRK has been a signatory of the UN Global Compact and a member of the Brazilian Global Compact Network since 2018. The company has also embraced the UN Women's Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and utilizes their guidelines to steer the internal gender equity program.



BRK is certified in ISO 37001, which confirms compliance with the Anti-Bribery Management System - ABMS.



BRK has been awarded the Pró-Ética 20-21 seal, an initiative by the Office of the Comptroller General of Brazil and the Ethos Institute, recognizing companies committed to preventing and combating corruption and other forms of fraud.

ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE

In 2022, BRK continued its consistent track record of results. For the fourth consecutive year, EBITDA showed double-digit growth, combined with a reduction in leverage during the fiscal year. This performance was sustained by a structured and ongoing operational efficiency plan.
